Yakuza: Dead Souls
Yakuza: Dead Souls is an action-adventure/survival horror video game developed and published by Sega exclusively for the PlayStation 3. The game is the sixth installment in the Yakuza series. The game's concept and keyword is "destruction"; a promotional image for the game showed the series' main location, Kamurocho, in ruins. Leaked scans of the Famitsu issue released on September 16, the first day of the Tokyo Game Show 2010, revealed that the game will be set during a zombie outbreak in Kamurocho and supposedly after the events of Yakuza 4.
Story
Dead Souls is a non-canon side story set in April 2011, a year after the events of Yakuza 4. A sudden zombie outbreak spreads through Kamurocho and is slowly quarantined while the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force is called in to contain the infection. Four men try to help the people of Kamurocho and find the source of the disease: Shun Akiyama, a money lender trying to save his secretary Hana; Goro Majima, a feared yakuza and construction boss trying to fight off his own infection; Ryuji Goda, who survived his wounds at the end of Yakuza 2 and works as a takoyaki cook; and Kazuma Kiryu, an orphanage caretaker and former yakuza who must return to Kamurocho when his adopted daughter Haruka is kidnapped. The game is divided into four parts, each of which focuses on a specific character.
