Wild Arms 3

The first two games in the Wild Arms series caused a sensation and recognition when they brought the classic console RPG to the original PlayStation. Although Wild Arms 3 (called Wild Arms Advanced 3rd in Japan) tells the same story, it offers important technical improvements and a number of new gameplay elements. With "stroke-shaded" animation graphics, a "Wild West" setting, and a full 3D game engine (not just for combat as in the previous games), Wild Arms 3 is designed to make the most of the PlayStation 2's power. Wild Arms 3 has four main characters and takes the time to familiarize players with each of them. The "drifters" Virginia, Gallows, Jet and Clive are four very different adventurers whose paths intertwine to form a common destiny. Although each has their own motivations, all four seek an explanation for why the once lush lands of Filgaia have become dry and barren. Differences must be overcome and the characters must act in harmony if they are to truly understand the ancient mystical forces at work. As the Drifters travel through the desolate land of Filgaia, they must solve a series of puzzles and overcome obstacles. Each character's different special abilities must be used to solve different parts of the game's complex puzzles. A technique called "expressive communication" is designed to allow players to quickly grasp the moods and emotions of the game characters on the screen. Monsters, villains and other horrible creatures also stand between the drifters and their targets. Wild Arms 3's turn-based combat system offers players a high degree of control and allows for tactics that make good use of the drifters' various powers and weapons while presenting combat with cinematic flair. Wild Arms 3 offers everything RPG players have come to expect: a deep story, tricky dungeons, and a unique combat system. Travel along with Virginia, Jet, Clive and Gallows and discover the secret behind the Prophets to revive the memories of Filgaia. Explore dungeons to unlock secret paths and find mythical treasures. Fast-paced gunfights make for intense, cinematic combat. Wild Arms 3 embodies the tried and true elements of a classic role-playing game.
