Warriors of Fate
Warriors of Fate is a beat'em-up with nine stages. Each contains large mobs, including spearmen, archers, strongmen, bomb-wielding enemies and at least one boss. The characters use two buttons, attack and jump, and have the typical moves of Capcom sidescrollers of the time. There are also a variety of weapons to pick up in the game. As with most sidescrollers, health is replenished through food, which can be found in various breakable containers in the game. A special feature of the game is the ability to summon a warhorse, which allows characters to perform additional attacks, usually with polearms. Most characters have their own special throw, as in Final Fight and The Punisher. In the Japanese version, the game follows Liu Bei's plight in Jingzhou from the Novel of the Three Kingdoms, a historical novel set in China during the Three Kingdoms period, when Cao Cao is preparing to invade his country. In the English adaptation, however, the Three Kingdoms theme was lost, and most of the names were replaced with names of Mongolian origin.
