Story

Vampyr is set in early 20th century Britain, when the country is ravaged by the deadly Spanish Flu and the streets of London are paralyzed by disease, violence and fear. In a chaotic and ghostly city, all who are foolish, desperate or unfortunate enough to walk the streets become victims of Britain's most elusive predators: the vampires. Out of the chaos awakens a tormented figure. You are Jonathan E. Reid, a high-ranking military surgeon who has been transformed into a vampire after returning from the front. Explore the gritty, atmospheric streets of early 20th century London and interact with a variety of characters who have their own identities and meanings. Accept and fulfill the orders they give you, but don't forget: sooner or later you'll have to feed and make a difficult decision... who will be your prey? Absolutely all characters in the game are potential victims of your vampiric lust. Carefully study your next victim's habits, his or her relationships with other characters and determine your strategy to feed unnoticed: Seduce them, change their daily habits or make them end up alone in a dark street.... Be careful who you choose to hunt, because they will disappear forever and their death will have a lasting effect on the world that surrounds you. Feeding on human blood will not only keep you "alive", but also unlock new vampiric powers. There will be moments when you'll get stuck with exploration and seduction and will have to engage in Vampyr's dynamic real-time combat. It combines hard melee combat with ranged combat and the supernatural powers of vampires. You'll encounter many types of enemies: different kinds of vampires and creatures, as well as vampire hunters who want to hunt you down with their weapons, tools and traps. In Vampyr, your health and the "energy" that powers your supernatural powers are one and the same! When you use your powers, your own blood is drained, giving you an advantage in battle, but also making you weaker. So you need to find a way to feed yourself during battle to replenish your powers. Vampyr also offers an extensive crafting system. Find and loot materials and components from the fresh corpses of your victims or during exploration to create and improve tools, melee and ranged weapons, as well as special ammunition and coatings to exploit your enemies' weaknesses. As you cling to what's left of your humanity, your choices will ultimately determine your hero's fate as you search for answers in the coughing, foggy aftermath of the Spanish Flu.
