UFO: Aftershock
UFO: Aftershock is the second installment in a three-part tactical strategy RPG series that is clearly inspired by the original X-COM games and has similar themes and gameplay, but adds its own post-apocalyptic horror to the concept. The game features isometric 3D visuals and, unlike its turn-based predecessor, offers real-time tactical combat with pauses. It is the year 2054, fifty years after the catastrophe. Fifty years after the surface of the Earth became uninhabitable. The remnants of humanity retreated to the flying port of Laputa, clinging to their existence. Then an uprising against the increasingly rigid and corrupt human leadership of Laputa escalated into a conflict that destroyed the colony. Now the remaining survivors are once again on the run. Can they reclaim Earth from the unknown forces that have chased them into the skies?
Story
After the life support system of the Laputa (space station/city in orbit) fails, the inhabitants of the Laputa rebel against the human council and an armed conflict ensues. As a result, the Laputa's engines explode and the city is destroyed, killing almost all of its inhabitants. The few survivors escape in space shuttles and find another abandoned Laputa in space. This Laputa is equipped with a landing capsule to Earth, which is said to have been lost long ago. Now you lead the remaining survivors of the Laputa and re-establish contact with Earth and the secrets hidden within.
