Trojan
The arcade version can be played by up to two players alternately. The game's controls consist of an eight-way joystick and two action buttons. Similar to Kung-Fu Master or Rush'n Attack, the player jumps by holding the joystick up, rather than having a dedicated jump button like other side-scrolling action games. Instead, one button is used to swing the sword at enemies, and the other button is used to hold the shield to block enemy attacks, including projectiles like throwing knives and arrows. The shield can be held standing or crouching towards the player, as well as vertically and diagonally upwards. Some enemies throw magic bullets that cause the player to lose his/her sword and shield when blocking them. In these cases, the player fights with bare hands, using the sword and shield keys to strike and kick, respectively. After a certain amount of time, the sword and shield appear on the screen, allowing the player to recover his/her weapon. Other power-ups include floating hearts, which restore the player's health, and jump points, which allow the player to jump higher than usual. The game consists of six sections in which the player encounters the usual series of small roast enemies, as well as a sub-boss in the middle of each section and a final boss at the end. The player can start the game in any of the six stages. However, the player must play through the entire game again after defeating the final boss, Achilles, to see the true ending (similar to Ghosts'n Goblins). Depending on the dip switch setting, the player can continue playing after a Game Over.
