Top Gun
Top Gun was released in 1987 for the PC, Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum and Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) (with a corresponding version for Nintendo Vs. Series arcade cabinets). The Commodore and Spectrum versions were developed by Ocean, while Thunder Mountain was responsible for the PC version of the game. Konami developed the Nintendo version. The NES version was released in North America in November 1987, in Japan on December 11, 1987, and in Europe and Australia on November 30, 1988. According to Game Over by David Sheff, the NES version sold over 2 million copies. Many who played the NES version complained about the difficulty and the lack of action in the game. There was a sequel for the NES version called Top Gun: The Second Mission.
Story
The sun shimmers on the horizon as your Navy fighter, armed to the teeth, screams from the carrier deck and flies into the danger zone. High above enemy waters, it's your job to protect the task force from enemy attack. Suddenly, enemy objects appear on your radar. They are everywhere and rushing towards you at Mach 2. You have only a second to react and arm your missiles. Your heart pounds and your palms sweat as you engage in close combat with guns blazing. Tracer bullets whiz past your engines. Grenades shake your senses. Now it's just you against them. And to survive, you need more than speed and firepower. You need guts and instinct. You need to be a "TOP GUN" pilot!
