Thunder Force II

Story

Shortly after Thunder Force, the ORN Empire builds a powerful new battleship, the Plealos (also known as Preareos). With this battleship, ORN again attacks the Galaxy Federation. The attacks lead to the destruction of the Galaxy Federation planet Reda and the heavy destruction of the planet Nepura (also known as Nebula), which ORN eventually conquers from the Galaxy Federation. Eventually, the Galaxy Federation learns that ORN hosts Plealos deep beneath the surface of Nebula when it is not in operation, and uses the opportunity to plan an operation to take it out. The Federation sends out the next generation of its Fire Leo fighters, the FIRE LEO-02 Exceliza, to destroy the ORN bases on Nepura and eventually find and destroy Plealos. The player controls the Exceliza and travels through a variety of stages to achieve this goal.
