The Witcher

Based on the series of novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher follows the amnesiac sorcerer (problem solver and monster slayer) Geralt of Rivia, whose home, the citadel of Kaer Morhen, is under siege by an organization called Salamandra, which steals its valuable potions and escapes. Throughout the game, Geralt must solve people's moral dilemmas, connect the dots of his past and track down the Salamandra.

Story

The game begins with Geralt of Rivia, one of the few remaining "sorcerers" - traveling monster hunters endowed with unnatural powers - being brought to the sorcerer's fortress of Kaer Morhen by fellow sorcerers who have found him unconscious in a field. Geralt remembers almost nothing from his previous life. He is taken to Kaer Morhen, the witches' base, where he meets a sorceress named Triss Merigold. The castle is attacked by a band of bandits named Salamandra, led by a criminal named Professor, a mage named Savolla, who controls a large, god-worshiping monster, and another mage named Azar Javed. The sorcerers and the sorceress manage to kill the monster and destroy Savolla, but the professor and Azar escape with the mutagens that genetically alter the sorcerers. After Triss heals the wounds she suffered in the fight against Javed, Geralt and the other sorcerers leave in different directions to find information about Salamandra.
