The Whispered World

The beautiful adventure game The Whispered World takes the player into a fascinating fantasy world. Sadwick is a young clown, but often anything but cheerful. One night, a strange blue creature speaks to him in a dream and sends him on an adventurous journey. In classic point & click tradition, players steer Sadwick and his companion Spot through the game. Little Spot never leaves Sadwick's side and is essential for solving many puzzles. He can take on many different forms throughout the game, which players can choose at will once they have learned them.
Story
The game is set in Silentia, a dreamlike fantasy world that is home to a young, sad circus clown named Sadwick. The story begins with him waking up in his traveling circus trailer after experiencing a recurring nightmare in which he sees the world falling apart. Sadwick goes for a walk in a nearby forest and meets Bobby, a Chaski, the King's messenger. Bobby is on his way to Corona, the royal castle, to deliver a powerful artifact, the Whispering Stone, to the king. He claims that the end of the world is near and the land is already falling apart and that the Asgil, a terrifying horde of subterranean creatures, are surrounding Corona. He tells Sadwick that he has unsuccessfully asked an oracle named Shana for advice to shorten his journey, and he asks Sadwick to help him find her. Sadwick believes that she may be able to interpret his nightmares, and he convinces Bobby to give him the Whispering Stone so that he can find the oracle. Shortly after, Bobby is scared away and disappears in an attack that Sadwick believes was an attack by Asgil. Sadwick finds a secret passage that, when activated by the Whispering Stone, leads him to Shana and learns from her that his destiny is to destroy the world. Shana shows Sadwick the way to a nearby island, where he finds the mysterious Kalida, who eventually brings him close to Corona. There, Sadwick stumbles upon the Asgil hideout and manages to eavesdrop on the Asgil leader Loucaux's plans, but is captured and thrown into a prison cell. After his successful escape, he manages to board a flying steam locomotive to Corona, where he meets Bobby again, who informs Sadwick that he is too late and that the king has locked himself in his quarters. Exploring the castle, Sadwick finds a model of a planetary system linked to the flow of space and time itself. He meets the royal astronomer who tells him that the Whispering Stone represents the planet Silentia in the model of the 5 planets and the king needs to repair the system to restore balance, but he has fallen ill and only when the system is repaired can it activate the source of the water of life that can wake the king.
