Story

The game is set in the Second Era, in the year 2E 583, during a period known as the Interregnum. It was a time known for its political instability. The Daedric prince Molag Bal took advantage of this instability to draw all of Tamriel into his realm of Coldharbour. To do this, he sent devices called "Dark Anchors" to Tamriel. The Fighters Guild has taken it upon themselves to remove them. The Tharn family, which rules Cyrodiil through the Empress Regent Clivia Tharn, has made a pact with the King of Worms, who has agreed to supplement the Imperial forces by reviving their soldiers. In secret, Mannimarco conspires with Molag Bal, the Daedric prince of corruption and domination, to take over Mundus. Molag Bal also collects the souls of mortals. The hero is an adventurer who has had his soul taken from him and is thus able to return to life again and again.
