Story

The story follows Kyle Dunamis, a young boy who dreams of becoming a great hero like his father Stahn, the hero of the first game. One day, when Kyle sets off with his adopted brother Loni to the local ruins, hoping to land a huge lens with which to finance his mother Rutee's orphanage, he crosses the path of Reala, a mysterious girl who claims to be in search of a hero. Kyle's determination to prove himself the same hero Reala is looking for puts him at odds with the seemingly benevolent Fortuna cult and sends him on a wild journey through time that brings him into contact with many prominent figures from the first game. The sketches for which the series has become known also return, with the characters in these sequences being represented by full-body portraits for the first time in the series. These portraits, like the rest of the game, were drawn by Mutsumi Inomata, who returns to the series after her work on Destiny and Eternia. Inomata's distinctive style, evident in her characters' long, slender limbs and unconventional fashions, isn't everyone's cup of tea, but some of the game's characters enjoy enduring popularity among fans of the series, appearing in official lists of the series' most popular characters and popping up in other media.
