Super Turrican

The lost colony of Alterra is a completely man-made living world abandoned long ago in a nearby galaxy. Alterra is actually five colonies in one. Each self-contained habitat was separately bioengineered by a powerful ecosystem generation network called the Multiple Organism Unit Link. MORGUL for short. The first colonists used MORGUL to make Alterra habitable. But a catastrophic quake disrupted all functions of the system interface, and MORGUL rebelled murderously. The few colonists who were lucky enough to escape told the grim tale of a crazed higher intelligence. For generations, humanity sought a return to Alterra. Finally, genetic research created a savior: Turrican, a mutant warrior bred for the task of reclaiming the planet. Meanwhile, MORGUL has been abusing Alterra's life forms for its brutal, destructive purposes. Thus, Turrican's task is to eliminate the hostile organisms from Alterra's five multilevel worlds and ultimately destroy the three faces of MORGUL.
