Super Noah's Ark 3D

Super Noah's Ark 3D

Super 3D Noah's Ark is an unlicensed Christian-themed video game for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and DOS. It was released in 1994 by biblical video game publisher Wisdom Tree and was the only commercially released SNES game in the US that was not officially licensed by Nintendo. To get around the Super Nintendo's locking chip, Wisdom Tree developed a pass-through system, similar to Game Genie, where the player had to insert an officially licensed SNES game into the cartridge slot on the Super 3D Noah's Ark cartridge. Despite its name, it has nothing to do with Konami's official Noah's Ark game for the Nintendo Entertainment System. In January 2014, the game was re-released for the SNES. Initially, it was only available via private email orders, then later via the Piko Interactive website. The game was also updated for the 20th Anniversary Edition and released on itch.io for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux on May 26, 2014. The game plays similarly to Wolfenstein 3D, but the graphics have been changed to reflect a non-violent theme. Instead of killing Nazi soldiers in a castle, the player takes on the role of Noah, who wanders around the ark shooting sleep-inducing food at angry attacking animals, mostly goats, with a slingshot to render them unconscious. The animals behave differently: goats, the most common enemy, will only kick Noah, while the other animals such as sheep, ostriches, antelopes and oxen shoot spit at him from a distance. Goats also cannot open doors, which the other animals can do. The game is aimed at younger children. In Noah's Ark there are secret passages, food, weapons and extra lives. There are also secret levels and shortcut levels. Over time, the player encounters bigger and stronger slingshots and hurls coconuts and watermelons at the bigger boss-like animals, such as Ernie the elephant and Carl the camel.
