Tax, torture or treat your peasants! Will you rehabilitate criminals or sentence them to death? Decide over a sumptuous feast as you are besieged by the warlike Lord Barclay. Will you amuse yourself with medieval tournaments or rule with an iron fist, dispensing feudal justice to overworked and malnourished peasants and peasants' wives? As powerful barons vie for power in a crumbling kingdom, it's up to you to stem the tide of ambition and unite the land under the one true king! Stronghold 2 builds on the simulation gameplay of the original Stronghold, allowing players to rule as they please and still win every battle. Dissatisfied peasants become criminals and must be punished, rival lords can raise entire armies based on their title alone, and sieges must be fought tooth and nail, with hand-to-hand combat taking place inside the castle. Stronghold 2 Online extends this gameplay to a competitive multiplayer mode for up to eight players, with offline skirmish mode also available against computer opponents. The online services used GameSpy, which has been disabled. The Steam edition is the only version of Stronghold 2 that still offers multiplayer via Steam Multiplayer.
