SteamWorld Dig

SteamWorld Dig is a 2D platform game in which everything revolves around mining resources and ores. The objective of the game is to explore the mines under the old western town of Tumbleton to uncover the secrets lurking there. The player controls Rusty, who is equipped with a pickaxe, but the player has the option to upgrade the tools he uses for digging as the game progresses. Besides health, the player also needs coal for light and water for special abilities. SteamWorld Dig has platforming elements, in that the player runs, jumps and encounters enemies, but the main objective is mining. This means that the player builds - or rather mines - the game world, creating platforms. The player collects raw materials and other hidden resources that he can bring back to the surface and exchange for money. As the player advances in the game, new abilities are unlocked. Each time the player plays through the game, mines are randomly selected so that items and treasures appear in different locations. If the player gets stuck, there is a self-destruct feature, but players can also buy ladders from the surface store to get out of tricky situations. As the player progresses deeper into the cave, he/she will encounter different enemies with different attack patterns and weak points. The game offers multiple worlds, each with a completely different environment. When you die, you have to pay a penalty and the player reappears on the surface. All the loot that the player has accumulated while dying can be collected again.
