Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro

Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro

Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro is an action-adventure video game developed by Vicarious Visions and published by Activision for the PlayStation in 2001. It is the sequel to Neversoft's Spider-Man title, which was released a year earlier. The game follows Spider-Man as he tries to stop his old nemesis Electro from obtaining a power source called the Bio-Nexus Device. The game's bosses include Shocker, Hammerhead, Lizard, Sandman and the exclusive supercharged Hyper-Electro.

Story

Shortly after the symbiote invasion, a series of robberies led by Electro occurred throughout New York City. While on patrol, Spider-Man discovers one of the heists at a building owned by BioTech. Spider-Man places a Spider-Tracer on the head thief's motorcycle and follows him to an abandoned warehouse, where the thief gives a stolen briefcase to a contact. Spider-Man takes out the thugs and interrogates one of them, but is then attacked by the head thief: Shocker. After defeating Shocker, Spider-Man follows the thug's tip and makes his way to the airfield where the contact man is headed. On the way, Spider-Man has to defuse a bomb threat, take out a machine gun nest and keep a runaway plane from crashing. When the contact escapes in the helicopter, Spider-Man is able to put another homing device on him and track him to a train yard owned by Hammerhead. Spider-Man fights his way through the Mafia-employed night crew and Sandman to catch a fleeing train and meets up with the contact man, who turns out to be The Beetle. The masked villain escapes with his briefcase, but he unwittingly leaves Spider-Man a clue: an invitation to the Ball of Science and Industry. Elsewhere, Electro explains his plan to the other villains. He and his partners have stolen the parts of the Bio-Nexus device, which can amplify one's bio-energy to power an entire city block, and Electro plans to use it to amplify his own powers. The device is currently incomplete and only its inventor, Dr. Watts, knows how to complete it. Hammerhead and his goons are sent to the Science and Industry Ball to take Dr. Watts hostage. Although Spider-Man arrives at the ball and manages to defeat Hammerhead, Sandman secretly escapes with the good doctor. Spider-Man decides to call Dr. Curt Conners at BioTech to get answers, but hears the sounds of a battle on the line. Spider-Man immediately infiltrates BioTech and reaches Dr. Conners' lab, where his alter ego The Lizard is rampaging uncontrollably. After transforming back into a normal human, Connors explains to Electro his goal of becoming a god with the Bio-Nexus device. He instructs Spider-Man to go to the laboratory of Dr. Watts. After a rooftop chase, Spider-Man finally arrives at the lab and learns where the device's main power source is, only to get involved in another fight with Sandman. After defeating Sandman by flushing him into the sewers with water, Spider-Man sees a newspaper article about the power source - a sapphire called Zeus' Tear - on display at the museum. Electro also learns about the jewel when one of his goons brings him the same newspaper article. At the museum, Spider-Man catches up with Electro, who is still holding Dr. Watts hostage. He offers to turn her over if Spider-Man gives him the Zeus tear. Spider-Man reluctantly obeys and Electro throws the doctor while Spider-Man throws the jewel. When Spider-Man tries to catch the jewel in mid-air with a web, Dr. Watts accidentally misses his target, allowing Electro to catch it. The Bio-Nexus device ready, Electro activates it and flies away in an electrifying flash of lightning. Spider-Man follows the villain to a massive power conductor on a tower, where he charges into Hyper-Electro, a being of pure electrical energy. Unable to attack Electro directly, Spider-Man instead uses the tower's generators to overload and destroy the Bio-Nexus device, ending Electro's power play for good. The next day, the Daily Bugle reports that The Mighty Thor has saved New York from Electro - much to Spider-Man's disappointment. At the prison, Electro sits in his cell lamenting his defeat while Hammerhead and Shocker play poker. In a nearby cell, Doctor Octopus and the other villains from the previous game are still locked up and Shocker tries to ask them if they know how to play Go Fish.
