Sonic Rush
Sonic the hedgehog has a new partner, Blaze the cat, in this fast-paced platformer Sonic Rush. You can play as either Sonic or Blaze and try to track down powerful Sol Emeralds. Sonic Rush displays the level on both screens, allowing for cross-screen jumps and dashes. Some game modes also support the stylus. Designed as a 2.5D side-scroller, Sonic Rush is the first game in the Sonic series to explore both 2D and 3D areas, combining two-dimensional environments with three-dimensional models. In 2007, the game received a sequel, Sonic Rush Adventure.
Story
At the beginning of the story, Blaze the Cat, an antisocial princess from an alternate dimension, appears in Sonic's world. Her world possessed the seven Sol Emeralds - gems that resemble Chaos Emeralds - on which she depends for survival. However, they were stolen by Dr. Eggman and when Blaze pursued him, a light brought them to this world. Blaze now makes it her goal to personally retrieve the emeralds from Eggman. When she finds Eggman, the Doctor flaunts a Sol Emerald, claiming that he needs it to gain ultimate power. Enraged, Blaze defeats Eggman and reclaims the emerald. Although Eggman escapes, Blaze is determined to get the rest. Confused and alone, Blaze ponders how to get the emeralds back and how to return home. Soon she discovers Cream, the rabbit, and Cheese hiding in the bushes. She is surprised by Cream's politeness and the young rabbit's desire to befriend Blaze. Over a cup of tea at Cream's house, Vanilla and Cream persuade Blaze to make him their local guide after hearing their story. However, Blaze rejects their advice to ask Sonic for help, believing she can do it on her own. Although Cream accompanies her, Blaze remains largely indifferent to the young rabbit's efforts to be her friend. Elsewhere, Sonic encounters Eggman during a run, who boasts that he will soon have ultimate power. After defeating Eggman, Sonic finds a Sol Emerald that Eggman dropped, whereupon Blaze appears and reclaims it. Confused, Sonic teams up with Tails to figure out what's going on while collecting the Chaos Emeralds.
