Sonic Colors
Sonic Colors, called Sonic Colours in the European and Australian markets, is a platform game from the Sonic the Hedgehog series, developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega in 2010. The game was released worldwide for the Wii in November 2010. Another version with different gameplay was also released at the same time for the Nintendo DS.
Story
The game revolves around the protagonist Sonic the Hedgehog and his fight against the main antagonist of the Sonic series, Dr. Eggman, who has taken an alien race hostage and is using it for his evil purposes. During the game, the camera perspective occasionally switches from third-person to side-scrolling. During development, Sega stated that they would discontinue inferior games in the Sonic series and develop new titles to increase the value of the brand. The development included the change of perspective, the idea of having the game set in an amusement park, and a unique music composition. Sega revealed that the game was designed for a broad target audience that includes both older and younger gamers. The game introduces power-ups, called wisps, which allow the player to increase their attack power and reach places they otherwise can't.
