SOCOM: US Navy SEALs
The player leads a four-man team (three AI-controlled teammates) of United States Navy SEALs through 12 missions in four regions: Alaska, Thailand, Congo and Turkmenistan in 2006 and 2007. In the single player missions, commands can be spoken through the included USB headset or through an on-screen menu if the optional SOCOM headset has not been purchased. Typical missions consist of killing terrorists, freeing hostages, gathering intelligence or destroying terrorist bases. The player's codename is Kahuna, while the codenames of his NPC colleagues are Boomer, Spectre and Jester. The team is divided into two sub-groups, Alpha and Bravo. The Alpha group consists of the player and Boomer, while the other two form the Bravo group. Orders can be given to individuals as well as to an entire group. For example, it is possible to ask Team Bravo to stand still while the player scouts the area with Boomer. However, the player cannot venture through a map alone. If Kahuna is too far away from Boomer, he will automatically follow the player, regardless of previous commands. Before each mission, there are briefings and information such as maps and photos.
