Snowboard Kids
The kids are arguing about their snowboarding skills. The debate escalates so much that they decide to hold a snowboarding tournament to determine who is the best. One character, Shinobin, plays no role at all until unlocked by the player. In addition to the usual gameplay of a snowboarding game, Snowboard Kids has "shots" (special weapons that can be used to attack players) and items that help the player, hinder other players, or both. The game has nine main tracks. Although some of the tracks are snowy mountains, many of them are tracks that would not be suitable for snowboarding in the real world. These include an amusement park, a desert, a wide valley, a dark highway, and a Japanese village during the Cherry Blossom Festival. There were several game mechanics that made Snowboard Kids different from other snowboarding and racing games of the time. For one, there was a second item slot that allowed each player to carry a shooting item and an assist item (such as a rock or invisibility) at the same time. In addition, players had to pay 100 gold to obtain an item during the race, which they could get either by tricking or by collecting coins scattered around the track. All of the courses required players to race down the hill for several laps. When a player reached the bottom of the hill, he or she had to go through the elevator gate to be transported back to the top of the hill.
