Slender: The Eight Pages

Slender: The Eight Pages

Slender (known as Slender: The Eight Pages from version 0.9.7) is an independently developed concept game based on the myth of the Slender Man. The game revolves around an unknown character who is pursued by the Slender Man in the forest as he searches for eight pages scattered in various locations. The game was developed by Mark J. Hadley as an experiment. The experiment proved to be a success and Slender gained mass popularity after it went viral. It can be downloaded for free from Hadley's website.

Story

The story of the game is not defined or explained. Your character is stranded alone in the woods and has no weapons or defenses. The only item your character possesses is a flashlight, which they cannot use to stop or delay the creature chasing them. Your character must go into a dark forest with various trees and objects and find eight pages with very poorly scrawled pictures of the Slender Man on them, with phrases like "HELP ME" or "NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO", based on the pages from Marble Hornets. The reason why these pictures are hung up in the forest, or why your character wants them, is not explained (It is speculated that the character is simply curious about the origin of these pages, but there are other "theories". For example: the player is a proxy controlled by Slender Man).
