Sands of Destruction

Story

Sands of Destruction is set on a desert world that is destroyed and reborn at regular intervals by an ancient force linked to the Destruction Code and guarded by the four Primal Lords. In the current version of the world, the population is divided between humans and anthropomorphic ferals. The Ferals, who are ruled by the twelve Beast Lords, mostly treat the humans like a slave class. In response, two pro-human factions form: the World Destruction Front, who want to find the Destruction Code and destroy the world, and the Golden Lions, who oppose the Ferals but want to preserve the world. To oppose them, the Beast Lords form the World Salvation Committee to defend the current system. The main characters are members of the World Annihilation Front. The protagonist is Kryie, a peaceful-minded young man who has been orphaned from birth and has led a sheltered life with friendly ferals. He teams up with Morte, an outwardly cheerful woman who is determined to destroy the world and start again because it can no longer be saved. The two are joined by Agan Mardrus, a friend of Morte's and member of the Golden Lions, Rhi'a Dragunel, the last of the Dragonfolk, who is linked to the beginning and end of the world, and Taupy, a Feral bounty hunter with the appearance of a teddy bear. Naja Gref, who initially pursued the Doomsday Front before joining their ranks, is a half-Feral who is discriminated against because of his mixed ancestry. Kyrie lives with his uncle in the village of Barni, where humans and savages are treated as equals by their ruler, the beast lord Ursa Rex. One day, Kyrie hears a voice that triggers a force that turns Barni and everyone there into sand, including Ursa Rex. When he is arrested for destroying Barni, he is rescued by Morte and the World Destruction Front. Morte, determined to destroy the world, tries to get Kyrie on her side through the Ferals' oppression of humans. On their journey, they are joined by Taupy, an initially reluctant Agan, and Rhi'a to observe events. Under orders from the unknown leader of the Doomsday Front, the group fights two of the Primal Lords so that Kyrie can gain their power. Kyrie tends to Morte and continues to hear the voice urging him to his role as "Destroyer". Under orders from the World Rescue Committee, Naja pursues them to save the remaining Primal Lords.
