Rush'n Attack
A run & gun shooter from Konami, also known by the title Green Beret, in which the player takes on the role of a soldier who infiltrates a military base.
Story
The player takes on the role of a U.S. special operations soldier who infiltrates an enemy military base to rescue several prisoners of war from execution by a firing squad. There are four locations: a deployment area, a port, an air base and a Siberian camp. The ubiquitous knife can be supplemented with captured weapons. By killing certain enemy soldiers, the player can get a three-shot flamethrower, a four-shot bazooka or a three-pack of hand grenades. At the end of each stage, the player encounters a special group of enemies typical of that stage: stage 1 ends with a truckload of running and jumping soldiers, stage 2 with a pack of wild dogs, stage 3 with three shooting autogyros, and stage 4 with a skilled multi-shot flamethrower operator. When the mission is complete, the four rescued POWs salute and the player restarts the game from the first level on the next difficulty. The player can stop in an area and earn points, but if he takes too long to progress, the game sends out tougher enemies and eventually a cloaked bomber appears to take out the player. There is also an invisible time limit that kills the player if he takes too long to finish the stage.
