Rolling Thunder
Rolling Thunder is a run-and-gun/action arcade game published by Namco in 1986 and licensed to Atari Games for manufacture and distribution in the United States. It runs on the Namco System 86 hardware and was later implemented for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, the Commodore 64, the Amstrad CPC, the Atari ST, the Commodore 64, and the Nintendo Family Computer. It was also on display at the Namco Museum Encore. The player takes control of "Albatross", a member of the spy unit "Rolling Thunder" of the WCPO (World Crime Police Organization). Albatross' mission is to rescue a missing agent named Leila Blitz from a secret society called Geldra in New York City. Albatross must go through two different sections or "stories", each consisting of five stages, for a total of ten game sections. In each section, Albatross can go through doors to hide and take cover from enemies, and jump to higher or lower floors using tracks, including stairs. At the beginning of the game, Albatross is armed with a standard pistol, which can be replaced with a fully automatic assault rifle that allows for a continuous shot while holding down the fire button. Albatross can obtain ammo for both weapons by entering doors labeled "Bullets" or "Weapons". Although Albatross has a life meter, he can only take two physical hits from enemies: a single hit will consume half of the meter, and he will be killed instantly if hit by a projectile attack such as enemy bullets or lasers. (However, all projectiles can be blocked by your own).
