Rainbow Islands Revolution
This is an updated version of Rainbow Islands, the sequel to Bubble Bobble, in the form of a platform game in which the player must climb through vertical levels that slowly sink into the sea. The objective of the original is to reach the top of each level and eliminate all the enemies along the way by shooting magical rainbows that can trap or eliminate enemies and form bridges for the player to walk on. Rainbows stay on the screen for a short time, but can be "broken" by the player if he jumps on them. Once broken, the rainbow falls off the screen and kills the first enemy it touches. The game also has an appealing bonus item system, in which defeated enemies leave behind food with different point values and power-ups with various helpful effects. The most important feature of this reinterpretation is the departure from traditional controls with a global touchscreen control system that radically changes the gameplay. In addition, the game is displayed on both screens of the DS. Instead of being triggered with a button press, the rainbows are now drawn directly on the game screen with the stylus, and movement is done by dragging the character through the levels. The goal is still to reach the top of the level, but the time limit has been extended as the player is no longer able to move and use rainbows at the same time. Rainbows are now destroyed by pressing the stylus on them.
