Pokemon Uranium is set in the tropical Tandor region, home to over a hundred new and unique Pokemon species. The Tandor region is known for its gym challenges: To qualify, trainers must collect 8 gym badges from across the region to compete in the prestigious Tandor Regional Tournament. Trainers who win the tournament receive a huge prize and enjoy worldwide recognition. You, a 13-year-old boy from Moki Town, didn't plan on becoming a Pokemon master. After your mother Lucille died in a nuclear power plant accident ten years ago, your father Kellyn, the best Pokemon Ranger in the Tandor Ranger Union, left you with your elderly aunt and went off to travel the region. But now that you're all grown up, your aunt can no longer support you. With no home to go to, you do what most kids your age do and start training Pokémon to earn a living. Professor Bamb'o, the regional expert in Pokémon elements, is looking for a trainer assistant to travel the region and collect specimens of the varied fauna. You accept the challenge, together with your rival, a younger boy named Theo. After passing an exam and getting your starter Pokémon, you'll head to your first gym challenge in Nowtoch City and explore the Tandor region on your own. However, things aren't as sunny as they first seem. Just when the accident ten years ago was all but forgotten, new mysteries emerge. A new power plant is being built on the site of the old one. Your father starts acting strangely, traveling to the remote areas of the region and wondering if your mother really passed away. Creepy Pokemon, corrupted by nuclear radiation, threaten innocent people. Amidst the turmoil, it seems as if a catastrophe is about to befall Tandor.... You might experience more than you expected.
