Pit Fighter
The gameplay is similar to Taito's Violence Fight and SNK's Street Smart. The player must jump, punch and kick until the opponent's energy is depleted. When the player presses all three buttons simultaneously, the character performs a "Super Move". At the beginning of Pit-Fighter, the player chooses one of the three playable characters, all of which have different movements, speed and power. In the player selection screen of the arcade version, each player has a color with which to select the fighters: for player one it is blue, for player two it is red, and for player three it is yellow. Up to three people can play at the same time, but in each of the 15 different matches of this game there are additional opponents that you'll have to fight against. Every third match is a bonus round, called a "Grudge Match"[1]. In a Grudge Match, the player must fight against a CPU-controlled clone of his or her fighter (if playing alone) or against the other players in a multiplayer game. If a player goes down three times, he or she is eliminated from the Grudge Match; the winner is the last survivor. Those who lose the Grudge Match are not eliminated, but the winner receives bonus money. The final match, the Championship Match, is between the player and the mysterious creature that occasionally stabs between matches, the Masked Warrior. If more than one person plays the game before this match, they must fight each other to the death until only one is victorious and can fight him. Sometimes during the match, the player will come across strange objects such as knives, crates, sticks, motorcycles and bar stools that can be thrown at you or your opponent. The player may also come across a power-up, called the "power pill". When the player or opponent grabs this item, you temporarily become stronger and take less damage from hits. Sometimes even the crowd interferes in the fights. Two characters known as Knife Man (Milt Loper) and Knife Woman (Dianne Bertucci) come out of the crowd and stab the player with their daggers. The player can take out these pests with one blow. Sometimes a fat bearded man with a stick also appears. When the player knocks him down, he can take the stick and use it against the current opponent. The spectators will also push any fighter who lands under them and stays there for more than a few seconds. They are then forced back into the fighting area.
