Panzer Dragoon Orta

Panzer Dragoon Orta

In the fourth installment of the Panzer Dragoon series, you'll play Orta, a young girl imprisoned by the Empire. Under a wave of attacks, the prison camp is breached by a mysterious dragon, and Orta takes it upon herself to ride the dragon and destroy the Empire once and for all. Along the way, she will also discover her own destiny and the mystery surrounding her new friend. For most of the game, you'll have limited control over the dragon, as your finger on the trigger shoots non-stop at the enemies flying through the area. Orta is your main source of firepower when you simply press the fire button, but if you hold the button down, the aiming cursor will change and you'll be able to fire a blast of energy from the dragon at whatever the cursor is aiming at. The dragon itself can transform into three forms with the press of a button. Each form has a different attack style and power ability. A port of the original Panzer Dragoon game is included.

Story

The Empire has returned to power and is using an ancient technology to genetically engineer dragon-like bioweapons called Dragonmares. A young girl, Orta, has spent her entire life in a tower in a valley, held captive by the nomadic Seekers who fear she is a harbinger of doom. One night, the Empire attacks the valley with its Dragonmares and destroys much of the city. Before the dragonmen can harm Orta, a mysterious dragon appears and destroys them. Orta flees the valley on the dragon. Evren, a general in the imperial army and leader of the Dragon Storm Squadron, pursues her. She is rescued by Abadd, a renegade imperial drone. He flies away and Orta asks the dragon to follow him. On her quest, Orta meets Mobo, a friendly but ruthless member of the Worm Riders. Mobo leads Orta through a river valley and a sea of ash to the worm riders' village. The Imperial fleet attacks the village and Evren's squadron attacks Orta, but she and the dragon defeat them. Evren's dragonmare destroys itself and Orta and the dragon fall from the sky. The wounded dragon carries Orta on foot across a snowy land until his torn wings regenerate. They fend off the attack of a flying predator, but Orta feels remorse when she sees that it has children. Abadd reappears and kills the family with a laser salvo. He claims to have information about Orta's birth. They descend into the ruins of a tower and access the ancient information network called Sestren. Orta finds a message recorded by her mother, Azel, stating that she was formed using DNA she received from a human in Sestren. Abadd explains that he has learned the secret of drone reproduction and wants to use Orta's body to multiply infinitely and conquer the world. Orta defeats Abadd's avatar and discovers that he is on his way to the Cradle, an ancient monolithic artifact above the Imperial City. She orders Sestren to take her there. Orta and the dragon find themselves in an imperial research facility. After destroying several experiments, including embryos of dragon girls, the facility collapses. They destroy an Imperial defense unit and the Emperor dies in the explosion. The Cradle erupts, destroying several Imperial ships and causing the Dragonmares to run amok. The Worm Riders, led by Mobo, attack the Imperial fleet in the city, leaving Orta behind to fly to the Cradle. After destroying the last of the dragonmen and the cradle's shell, a cocoon-like object emerges from the cradle's core. The cocoon turns out to be Abadd's giant dragon, which Orta and the dragon defeat. The dragon, who is badly wounded, flies to the ground and dies. After the war, Orta goes to a mountain range with a baby dragon. Iva's story
