Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan

Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan, or simply Ouendan, is a rhythm video game developed by iNiS and released by Nintendo for the Nintendo DS handheld console in 2005, but only in Japan. Ouendan is about a cheerleading squad who, in the style of a manga comic, rhythmically cheer on various people with problems. In each phase, players use the DS touch screen to tap on specially marked dots that appear to the rhythm of various Japanese pop songs. Points are awarded for accurate timing and avoiding a poor performance, which can lead to the premature end of the stage. Although it was never released in Western markets, it was a popular import there, leading to the development of its spiritual successor Elite Beat Agents in Western language, as well as a direct Japanese sequel Moero! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2.
