Octodad

Octodad

Octodad is a third-person adventure game about destruction, deception and fatherhood. The player controls Octodad, a dapper octopus who pretends to be human as he spends a day of his life. His existence is a constant struggle as he must use his unwieldy, boneless tentacles to accomplish everyday tasks while keeping his cephalopod nature a secret from his human family. The game offers a humorous storyline that revolves around the main character, an octopus that pretends to be an average human with a family. The plot revolves around the player, who controls Octodad, trying to complete various chores and tasks while keeping his secret. The game uses the fact that an octopus pretends to be a human to convey the idea that everyday tasks can get much more out of control. The sequel, Dadliest Catch, was released on January 30, 2014 and was one of the first titles to be included on Steam Greenlight. Octodad is an independent freeware video game developed by a group of students at DePaul University. Many of them later founded Young Horses, Inc, the developers of the sequel Octodad: Dadliest Catch. The game was developed for the 2011 Independent Games Festival Student Showcase and was one of 8 Student Showcase Award winners that year.
