Nox
An excellent action/RPG hybrid with a very unique gameplay. Your name is Jack Mower, a guy from the 20th century who accidentally got sucked into the world of Nox via his TV. The world is in danger and you have to save it! But before you embark on your epic journey, you must choose your path: Warrior, Wizard or Summoner. If you choose the warrior path, you can equip and use all kinds of swords, battle axes, war hammers and chakrams - but leave the magical mumbo-jumbo to the Summoner and Wizard classes. An enchanted weapon is the closest thing to magic for a warrior, but that's okay, because magic is for wimps. As a sorcerer, you'll explore the mystical art of spellcasting, which ranges from feind-blinding illusions to devastating displays of metaphysical power. You'll also learn to set magical traps with deadly spell combinations to foil unsuspecting enemies. Although you must forgo clumsy swords and armor in the name of your art, you can use a staff as a last physical defense. If you choose to be a summoner, you can enchant and summon creatures with magic to make them obey you. You'll even be able to create a magical creature called "Bomber" that will damage your enemies with magic. You'll also get a lot of experience in using staffs and bows to fend off the few enemies that get past your servants.
Story
A few decades before Jack's arrival in the land of Nox (the fictional setting of the same name in the game), a group of necromancers tried to seize world domination, but were stopped by the legendary hero Jandor, who carried an artifact weapon called the Staff of Oblivion. After the necromancers were defeated, Jandor trapped their souls in the magical orb, which the arch-wizard Horvath transported to another dimension, which later turned out to be modern Earth. One of Jandor's last deeds during the war was to rescue a female infant he found in the necromancers' lair: Not knowing what to do with the possible offspring of the necromancers, he left the girl in the care of an ogre village. Then he disassembled the staff and gave each piece to one of the three powerful factions in the game: the Fire Knights of Fortress Dün Mir (the Halberd of Horror), the Wizards of Castle Galava (the Heart of Nox), and the Temple of Summoners of Ix (the Strange Beast). After that, he adopted the nickname "Airship Captain", under which he mentors the player throughout the game.
