Ninja Gaiden

Ninja Gaiden

Ninja Gaiden is an action video game released in 1991 by Sega under license from Tecmo for the Game Gear. It stars Ryu Hayabusa and is part of the Ninja Gaiden series, although the storyline is not connected to the other Ninja Gaiden games. The gameplay is similar to the earlier Ninja Gaiden games, in which the player jumps between platforms, defeating and dodging enemies.

Story

At the beginning of the game, Ryu Hayabusa responds to an attack in his village when he rushes to a shrine where the leader of the attack is holed up. When he defeats him, the leader reveals that he was hired by a man named Totenkopf, a smuggler who sells weapons to a large number of customers. To find out why someone would steal the Dragon Sword, Ryu infiltrates the boat, kills Totenkopf, and betrays a man named Mr. Tsin, to whom he sold weapons in Hong Kong. Ryu defeats Mr. Tsin, but not before being captured and taken to India. There, the person who wants the Dragon Sword to start World War III turns out to be Shiragane, a demon who is able to control his thoughts and have almost unlimited power over the minds of others with the power of the Dragon Sword. Ryu kills him, putting an end to yet another threat to the world.
