NBA 2K7 is a basketball simulation game developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Sports. It is the eighth installment of the NBA 2K series and the successor to NBA 2K6. It was released in September 2006 for Xbox, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3. Shaquille O'Neal is the title athlete of the game. NBA 2K7 is the predecessor of NBA 2K8 in the NBA 2K series. The game strives to simulate the National Basketball Association experience and tries to be as realistic as possible. Players play NBA basketball games with real teams in a variety of game modes. Players can customize the gameplay and players and take control of an NBA team as a general manager, hire coaches and make profits. The game features all the major aspects of the NBA, such as commentary, realistic crowd animations, and halftime shows. The overall gameplay of the game as well as the aesthetics are said to have been significantly improved before the release. NBA 2K7 was positively received upon its release. Some critics called the graphics "stunning", while others said it was "spectacular" and achieved great "visual feats". Most of the other praise was for the improved gameplay and the depth and richness of the game's content. Some negative comments were about the models and animations of the players.
