Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks
Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks is an action-adventure beat 'em up video game set in the Mortal Kombat universe. Players take on the roles of the iconic Shaolin monks Liu Kang and Kung Lao and defend the Earth Realm against the threat of the outside world, either alone or in cooperative mode. The game offers a reinterpretation of the story of Mortal Kombat II.
Story
Based on the events that occurred at the end of Mortal Kombat and led to Mortal Kombat II, the story begins with the warriors of Earthrealm fighting for their lives against the forces of Outworld on Shang Tsung's island fortress. Liu Kang eventually confronts the sorcerer and gains the upper hand over him, until Goro intervenes in the fight. While the heroes are distracted by this new threat, Shang Tsung manages to open a portal to Outworld and retreat with his evil allies as the fortress begins to crumble around them. As they flee, Liu Kang and Kung Lao find the Wu Shi Academy, which is under attack by Baraka and his Tarkatans. They defeat them and decide to face the threat and fight their way through the outside world to meet Shao Kahn in person.
