Mortal Kombat: Deception
Mortal Kombat: Deception is the sixth part of the Mortal Kombat series. Based on the Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance engine, players must once again fight to stop the new threat in the sixth installment of the fighting series. The standard Arcade, Versus and Practice modes return, as well as new items that can be found in the crypt. There are also the new modes Konquest Adventure, Chess Kombat and Puzzle Kombat, which offer the player new mini-games. The Playstation 2 and Xbox versions offer the possibility to compete online against other players. The Gamecube version does not include online play, but features Goro and Shao Kahn as exclusive playable characters.
Story
While the deadly alliance of Quan Chi and Shang Tsung is victorious against Raiden's warriors, a new villain emerges, the dragon king and former emperor of the Outlands Onaga, who searches for the six artifacts (the Kamidogu) that give him supreme power over all realms. The main protagonist is Shujinko, a warrior with the ability to copy the skills of other fighters, who was tricked into rehabilitating Onaga before the main storyline. To accomplish this task, Shujinko traverses all the realms, from his home, the Earth Realm, to the hellish Nether Realm, while being taught by the grandmasters of Mortal Kombat. But when Shujinko completes his task, he discovers that he has become a pawn in a conspiracy to raise the evil Dragon King Onaga from the dead. After Onaga regains his full power, the masters of Mortal Kombat must stop him from changing the very fabric of existence.
