Story

Fed up with constant defeats in tournament battles, Shao Kahn, who lost to Liu Kang in the Outworld tournament, carries out a 10,000-year-old plan. He wants to get his shadow priests, led by Shang Tsung, to resurrect his former queen Sindel, who died unexpectedly at a young age. However, she would not be resurrected in the outside world. She would be resurrected in the realm of Earth. Thus, Shao Kahn can cross the boundary lines and reclaim his queen. When Sindel is reborn in the earth realm, Shao Kahn reaches across the dimensions to reclaim her. The result of his action is that the Earth Realm becomes a part of the outside world and billions of people are killed instantly. Only a few are spared as Rayden protects their souls. He tells them that Shao Kahn must be stopped, but he cannot intervene; because of his status, he has no power in the outside world, and the Earth Kingdom has partially merged with the outside world. Shao Kahn has sent out extermination squads to roam the Earth Kingdom and kill all survivors.
