In the exciting battle of Metroid, you will compete against the evil Mother Brain! You are inside the fortress planet Zebes. A planet with endless secret passages where the Metroids multiply. If left alone, the Metroids are harmless. But in the wrong hands, they could destroy the galaxy. It's up to you to stop the mother brain that controls Zebes from using the Metroids for evil purposes. But that won't be easy. You'll have to use your spacesuit to absorb valuable energy for your quest, so you can use power items like the ice ray, the wave ray, the high jump boots and Varia. If you survive, you'll go up against the Mother Brain with the powers you've acquired.
