Metroid Fusion
The famous Metroid series returns to the Game Boy Advance with Metroid Fusion. Following Samus' exploits in the Super Nintendo classic Super Metroid, the intergalactic bounty hunter is infected with a parasitic life form known only as "X". Samus is rescued by the Metroid DNA and revived after having her body and suit heavily altered. The result is a drastic change in her appearance and a new ability to absorb and assimilate the abilities of the "X" virus. Experience a new, immersive chapter in the Metroid series and experience the timeless gameplay and exploration that have made the series a legend.
Story
The game starts with Samus Aran working as a bodyguard for Biologic's research team on the planet SR388. Eventually, they are attacked by a Hornoad and killed by Samus. However, when the Hornoad is destroyed, a spherical yellow organism (an X) escapes from it and enters Samus' body. Feeling no effects at first, Samus continues to accompany the researchers and completes the mission. On the way back to the lab, however, Samus loses consciousness and her battleship crashes into an asteroid belt. The ship's emergency systems automatically eject Samus' escape pod and save her from the crash, but her gunship is completely destroyed. Samus is quickly tended to by a medical crew, who discover that the creature that invaded her body on SR388 is actually a parasitic organism, which they soon name X. Samus infected 2 Samus infected by the X parasites. The organic components of Samus' Power Suit had become so attached to her system that they could not be removed while she was unconscious. Large parts of her infected suit had to be surgically removed, dramatically altering its appearance. However, the X in Samus' central nervous system was too deeply ingrained to be safely removed; Samus' chances of survival were less than one percent. Metroids are the only known predators of the X. However, because Samus destroyed all the Metroids on SR388 in an earlier mission, the X were able to reproduce unhindered. The doctors saw this as the key to their cure and suggested using a Metroid cell from Samus' dead baby Metroid to create a vaccine against the X. Apparently, the Federation had managed to obtain a cell culture from the baby Samus had saved when she was on Zebes a second time. The serum was prepared and injected without delay, wiping out the X completely: Samus could no longer be harmed by normal X and could even absorb them to replenish her health and ammo, but she also inherited the Metroids' susceptibility to cold. After her recovery, Samus is sent to investigate an explosion at the Biologic Space Laboratories research station, where SR388's samples and the infected parts of her Power Suit are stored. Once at the station, Samus immediately heads to the quarantine bay, where she encounters and kills a hornoad infected by an X parasite. Samus talks to her new starship's computer (which she has named "Adam" because he reminds her of a former commander) and learns that the specimens brought back by the away team have been infected with the X. The computer also tells her that the specimens have been infected by the X parasite. The computer also reveals to her that the X can use the DNA of its prey to create a perfect copy, which means that all organic life on the station could also be infected. SA-X 1 The SA-X. As she explores the station further, Samus discovers that the X have used the infected parts of her Power Suit to create a copy of Samus herself, called the SA-X (or Samus Aran-X). Because the SA-X was created from Samus' fully upgraded Power Suit, it has all of her abilities, as evidenced by its use of a power bomb to escape from Quarantine Bay. When the bomb exploded, the SA-X also destroyed the capsules containing the X specimens, releasing them all into the station. During her exploration of the station, Samus comes across the facility's locked laboratory. Here she finds dozens of Metroid children and several more Metroids in various stages of maturity, all in stasis. Shortly after Samus discovers them, the SA-X attempts to destroy his predators, but his plan backfires: the Metroids break free and the emergency safeties are activated. Samus narrowly escapes before the lab completely locks down, is thrown off the station and explodes over SR388. After the lockdown lab incident, Samus talks to her ship's computer, which is angered by the Metroids' discovery and subsequent destruction. The computer explains that the Federation has been secretly working on a Metroid breeding program for "peaceful purposes." The computer reveals that the station's SRX environment, a replica of SR388's ecosystem, was ideal for breeding Alpha, Gamma, Zeta and even Omega metroids. The research discovered techniques for rapid growth that could grow an infant into an Omega metroid in a matter of days. Unfortunately, the SA-X had tracked Samus down and followed her to the lab. To Samus' surprise, the computer determines that the SA-X reproduces asexually and there are no less than ten aboard the station. Later, the computer tells Samus that she has done enough damage and instructs her to leave the rest of the investigation to the Federation. Apparently, the Federation has an interest in the X and SA-X and believes that this life form has endless applications. Samus, who has seen firsthand the destructive capabilities of the SA-X, is strongly opposed. She is convinced that the X will overwhelm Federation forces.
