MediEvil: Resurrection
MediEvil: Resurrection is a 2005 action-adventure game for the PlayStation Portable and is the third installment of the MediEvil video game series. It is a reinterpretation of the first part of the series, MediEvil, with many changes to the original structure and content, such as the addition of the subplot "Anubis Stone", which never appeared in the original. Many things, such as the level design and characters, were drastically changed, and some levels from the original were even removed altogether. New levels and characters have been introduced, the cutscenes are completely new, and the game has been kept in a much funnier, cartoony style, unlike the gothic horror comedy of the original. The soundtrack has been completely re-orchestrated and half of the themes from the original have been removed, while new themes have been created to match the new levels. Unlike the original, there is no alternate ending; Dan still goes to the Hall of Heroes regardless of whether he collects all the goblets. The game also features a large number of voice actors, including Tom Baker as the narrator and the Grim Reaper.
Story
In 1286, an evil sorcerer named Zarok tried to take over the kingdom of Gallowmere. Legend tells of a brave knight named Sir Daniel Fortesque who slew the evil sorcerer and brought peace to Gallowmere. In reality, however, Dan was the first to die in the Battle of Gallowmere when he was hit in the eye by an arrow during the first attack. A century later, in 1386, Zarok returns and casts a spell over Gallowmere that steals people's souls and resurrects the dead. This spell also resurrects Dan, who is accompanied by Al-Zalam, a spirit who was stripped of his powers by Zarok and cursed to dwell in Dan's skull. Dan sees his resurrection as a chance to prove himself a true hero and sets out to take revenge on Zarok. After gathering all the pieces and making his way to Zarok's lair, he is confronted by Zarok and his immortal army, but Dan manages to stop this army by using the Anubis Stone to summon the souls of the combatants of the Battle of Gallowmere. Zarok transforms into a cobra and makes a last desperate attempt, but Dan manages to defeat him. When Zarok dies, he switches his cave to self-destruct, hoping to take Dan with him, but Dan is saved by Al-Zalam, who was released from his curse after Zarok's death. As peace returns to Gallowmere, Dan returns to his eternal rest, where he has finally earned his place as a true hero in the Hall of Heroes.
