The game introduces unique features such as the ghostly ally Kiya and new mechanics such as controlling Dan's severed head for certain puzzles.
Story
In Kensington in 1886, 500 years after Sir Daniel Fortesque's battle against the evil sorcerer Zarok, a sorcerer named Lord Palethorn discovers Zarok's spell book and casts the spell that raises the dead over the city of London. However, the pages of the book are soon scattered all over London, giving Palethorn a demon-like appearance. The spell Palethorn casts brings Sir Dan, who was resting in a nearby museum, back to life. He is recruited by a professor named Hamilton Kift and his ghostly sidekick Winston to find the pages of Zarok's spell book and foil Palethorn's plans. Along the way, they are joined by an ancient mummy princess named Kiya, with whom Dan falls in love. During an incident where Kiya goes off on her own, she is killed by Jack the Ripper, much to Dan's horror. When he discovers a time machine, he travels back in time to save Kiya and merges with his past self to obtain a golden armor. When Dan finally confronts Palethorn, he steals the pages from him and uses them to summon a large blue demon. However, Dan manages to turn the demon against Palethorn and stop them both. When Palethorn blows up his cave in his last breath, Dan decides to accompany Kiya in the afterlife and bring her to eternal rest. When the player has collected all the chalices, Dan and Kiya take a ride in the time machine instead, which takes them to Zarok's arena.
