Magical Drop II
Magical Drop's gameplay is similar to Compile's (now Sega's) Puyo Puyo and Taito's Puzzle Bobble: a "pile" of random colored bubbles drops from above, and the player is defeated when a bubble touches the ground. The bubbles can be picked up and dropped by the player's "clown" on the ground. They are destroyed when three or more bubbles of the same color come together in a single column. "Chains" are created either when a single drop triggers a chain reaction, or when several groups of bubbles are destroyed in quick succession. The game is usually played with two players (one of whom may be a computer opponent), and chains cause the opponent's stack to drop faster. There are 24 characters, all of whom except Black Pierrot are named after a tarot card (although the Strength card has been represented by two characters over the course of the series). Different characters have different attack patterns. The columns of the opponent's deck drop at different rates depending on the character chosen. This results in a color difference that can make it more difficult for the other player to clear his stack. For example, with the Devil character, all columns sink at the same rate, while with Sun, the middle columns sink faster than the others.
