Lemonade Tycoon
Lemonade Tycoon, first released as Lemonade Inc, is a Shockwave-based game. A free, limited version is available on many websites for online play, or the full version with no time limit can be purchased online. The objective of Lemonade Tycoon is to sell lemonade for a profit. While selling lemonade, players have to take care of many aspects of their business. Players decide on a recipe, set prices, and sell lemonade in various locations. The game includes changing weather and news that the player must balance. To overcome some factors like long lines and stock, players can buy upgrades. The package release included versions for PC, cell phones, Windows Mobile Professional devices and Palm devices. Lemonade Tycoon uses a concept called "Game-On" that allows players to transfer game saves from a Windows PC to a Palm handheld or Windows Mobile Professional device and back again to continue. Although Lemonade Tycoon is compatible with multiple platforms, the game differs slightly on each. In the Windows version, more details and information are possible due to the larger screen. The locations have a much larger view, while the other versions have to make do with a smaller screen. They didn't include as much information as the PC version. Areas were cut off so that only a part could be seen. However, each platform is not limited in its usability and functionality. Lemonade Tycoon 2: New York Edition is also available for Mac OS X and is published by MacPlay. The last update (1.1.9) was called Lemonade Tycoon Deluxe because it included some new levels and a slightly better user interface. In 2009, Electronic Arts released an iPhone version of Lemonade Tycoon. GAMEPLAY: Game Modes Lemonade Tycoon contains three game modes: career, challenge and champion. In career mode, the player can run a stand for as long as they want. In challenge mode, there was a 30-day limit to see how fast your stand can grow in that time. Stocks/Supplies In order to sell lemonade, players must purchase supplies, including ice, lemons, sugar, and cups. Sales and advertising The player has the option to advertise in Lemonade Tycoon. Every day, the player can pay an advertising fee, with various advertising options available. Advertising increases the number of potential customers. Upgrades Lemonade Tycoon offers many upgrades, available at different prices. Some shorten the waiting time, others improve visibility, still others make ice cream, etc. Stand upgrades allow more storage space and customer capacity. There are also employees, a cashier and a clown, who are paid daily for reducing waiting time and increasing patience, respectively. Locations There are five different locations where you can set up your booth. Some locations are more popular than others. Each location has a different rent. Each location has satisfaction and popularity. Popularity changes as the player's stand becomes more popular. Good satisfaction and publicity bring more customers. Satisfaction keeps customers coming back to the booth. If lines are short, prices are good, the player serves all customers instead of them leaving, and the player has a good recipe, the player's customer satisfaction will increase. When satisfaction increases, customers will come back to the player's booth. Satisfaction and popularity are location dependent. They don't travel with you as you move from place to place. Game Factors There are many headlines that affect how well lemonade sells. Some headlines can improve your business and others can hurt your business. Headlines change every game day and can sometimes affect only one location. Weather also affects how well lemonade sells. More customers come to the stand on warm, hot days than on cold, rainy days. The weather changes every day and doesn't seem to follow a predictable pattern. Lemonade Stock Exchange (LSX) The Lemonade Stock Exchange was an online feature that allowed people to see how their stand compared to others. RECEIPT: Awards Best Pocket PC Strategy Game (2002 Pocket PC Magazine's Best Products Awards) Applied Applications Learning Planet, an educational website, developed the original version of the game to teach economics and resource management to its students. The LearningPlanet.com version of Lemonade Tycoon is visually different, but functionally identical to the other versions of the game.
