L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition

Set in 1947 Los Angeles, L.A. Noire challenges the player, who controls an officer of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), to solve a series of cases in five divisions. Players must search for clues at crime scenes, follow up on leads, and interrogate suspects. The player's success in these activities affects how much of the story of each case is revealed. The game borrows heavily from film noir in both plot and aesthetics, a style of film popular in the 1940s and 1950s that featured similar visual styles and themes of crime and moral ambiguity. The game uses a distinctive color palette, but as an homage to film noir it also offers the option of playing the game in black and white. Various plot elements refer to the main themes of detective and gangster stories such as Key Largo, Chinatown, The Untouchables, The Black Dahlia and L.A. Confidential. L.A. Noire features the use of Depth Analysis' newly developed MotionScan technology, in which the actors and actresses portraying the game's characters are captured by 32 surrounding cameras to capture facial expressions from every angle. This technology is central to the game's interrogation mechanics, as players must judge whether or not suspects are lying based on their reactions to interrogation. L.A. Noire was the first video game to be screened at the Tribeca Film Festival. Upon its release, the game received much praise for its advances in storytelling and facial animation technology. By February 2012, both the PC and console versions had sold a total of nearly 5 million copies. In addition to the original game, L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition for PC includes a multi-code that allows you to access all of the previously released downloadable content from the console versions, such as the Nicholson-Galvanik case (Arson), Reefer Madness case (Vice), The Consul's Car case (Traffic), The Naked City case (Vice), and A Slip of the Tongue case (Traffic).
