Knights of the Round
The gameplay is very similar to other Capcom beat 'em ups like Final Fight and Capcom's earlier hack-and-slash fantasy title The King of Dragons. There are seven stages, each with its own boss and a variety of generic enemies that try to stop the player's progress. The battles rely heavily on blocking ability, which is triggered by pressing the attack button and then pushing the joystick away when the enemy strikes. If the player is successful, he becomes invincible for a few seconds and can launch a counterattack. However, if no one attacks the player's character while he is holding the block, he will get tired and drop his guard, becoming vulnerable to attack. Blocking is vital in certain cases, because some bosses are not vulnerable until their attack is blocked by the player. As in most beat 'em ups, a desperation attack is performed by pressing the attack and jump buttons simultaneously. This takes out most of the enemies on the screen, but the player loses a bit of health each time they use it.
