Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep

Birth by Sleep is an action role-playing game that introduces a gameplay aspect called the command system, which allows players to design a command deck with techniques and abilities that they can execute at will, called deck commands. Performing normal attacks and commands fills a meter above the command deck that, when certain conditions are met, activates a command style that replaces the player's basic attack command with the Fury command, which triggers powerful combos depending on the command style activated. If you fill the meter a second time with certain requirements, the player's character will switch to an even higher level command style that replaces the Rage command with the more powerful Storm command.

Story

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep begins in the Land of Departure, where three Keyblade wielders and close friends - Terra, Aqua and Ventus (better known as Ven) - are training to become Keyblade Masters under Master Eraqus. To achieve this rank, the Keyblade apprentices must take the Master's exam once they come of age. Terra and Aqua take this exam together. In the first round, Master Xehanort sabotages the exam, forcing Ventus to intervene. In the second round, Terra and Aqua fight each other, but while Aqua passes the exam, Terra is deemed unfit to take the Keyblade Master exam due to the great darkness in his heart. Afterwards, a group of mysterious creatures called the Unversed appear in other worlds and another Keyblade Master, Xehanort, disappears without a trace. Terra is sent to destroy the Unversed and find Master Xehanort, who had previously encouraged him to embrace the darkness in his heart if he wants the power to become a Keyblade Master. Ven, meanwhile, is persuaded by Xehanort's mysterious apprentice Vanitas to follow Terra, against Eraqus' wishes. Aqua is sent by Eraqus to monitor Terra and prevent him from falling into darkness, and to bring Ventus back to the Land of Departure.
