Killer Instinct Gold
Rare was a well-known second-party developer for Nintendo and produced the Killer Instinct series exclusively for the company as an answer to Mortal Kombat. After the success of the port of Killer Instinct for the Super Nintendo home console in 1995, Rare began developing a sequel for the same console. After its announcement, development was shifted to the Nintendo 64. Gold was planned as a launch title for the new console, but was delayed until its release in North America in November 1996. A wider release was made in May 1997. It was also included in the 2015 Rare Retrospective for the Xbox One, Rare Replay.
