Jungle Hunt

Jungle Hunt

Jungle Hunt is a side-scrolling arcade game produced and released by Taito in 1982. It was originally released as Jungle King. Jungle Hunt is one of the first video games to use parallax scrolling. The player controls a nameless jungle explorer wearing a pith helmet and safari suit. The player attempts to rescue his girl from a tribe of hungry cannibals by swinging from vine to vine, swimming through a crocodile-infested river, jumping over or ducking under rolling rocks, and finally freeing the girl before she is lowered into a boiling cauldron. Home versions were released for the Apple II, the Atari 2600, the Atari 5200, the Atari 8-bit family, the Commodore 64, the ColecoVision, the VIC-20 and the IBM PC. The PC version was developed by Sierra On-Line and is only compatible with an original IBM PC/XT with a CGA graphics card. In the Atari versions, the hero is called Sir Dudley, and the girl who is married to Sir Dudley is called Lady Penelope.
