James Bond 007: Nightfire
007: Nightfire is a first-person shooter featuring the character of the British secret agent James Bond and a sequel to Agent Under Fire. The game was Pierce Brosnan's fourth appearance as James Bond before the release of his fourth and last Bond movie, Die Another Day. His likeness can be seen in the game, but not his voice, which is spoken by Maxwell Caulfield. Overall, there are many weapons that the player can carry, including grenades of different types and other types of explosives. Also, there are a large number of mounted weapons throughout the game. As in previous James Bond games, the weapons that appear are based on actual weapons, but their names have been changed. Some weapons appear in the console version, but not in the PC version, and vice versa.
Story
The game's prologue mission begins in Paris, France, where James Bond helps French intelligence agent Dominique Paradis evade a gang pursuit while chasing a truck carrying a stolen nuclear weapon before continuing on in his car. After stopping the truck from blowing up the Eiffel Tower, Dominique and James celebrate New Year's Eve. The British government sends Bond undercover to a party at the Austrian chateau of industrialist Raphael Drake. M believes the party is a cover for the exchange of a missile control chip between Raphael Drake and Alexander Mayhew, who runs the Japanese branch of Drake's industry, Phoenix International, and had stolen the chip from the United States. Phoenix is believed to be a front for arms smuggling. M instructs Bond that 007 should meet with CIA agent Zoe Nightshade and Dominique, who poses as Drake's mistress. While Zoe distracts the guards, Bond makes his way to the stock exchange and steals the chip. Agents Nightshade and 007 attempt to escape by cable car when Drake's bodyguard Rook attacks the cable car with a rocket-propelled helicopter. Bond shoots down the attacking helicopter with the rockets found in the cable car. James and Zoe escape Drake's forces in an armored snowmobile before continuing in James' car. They meet up with Q, who takes them out of Austria. After the break, Drake threatens to kill Mayhew if the operation fails. Mayhew contacts MI6 and says that he will provide vital information if Bond comes to his aid. At his Japanese estate, Mayhew is attacked by Drake's men, who are Japanese thugs. Bond fights his way through the estate and manages to retrieve a file from Mayhew's safe. As they make their escape from the mansion, Mayhew is killed by a ninja. The file leads Bond to Mayhew's office in the Phoenix Building in Tokyo. Bond manages to get into the building while the guards are changing shifts, and secures the official NightFire documents. He is then attacked by Drake's men before Dominique distracts him and Bond is able to escape from the roof of the building by parachute. The NightFire documents lead Bond to a nuclear power plant that is being decommissioned by Phoenix International. Bond finds evidence of Drake's activities and escapes. But he is then duped and captured by Kiko, Mayhew's former bodyguard, and delivered to Drake. On the roof of the Phoenix building, Drake plans to kill Bond and Dominique, who has been exposed as a mole. Dominique is pushed off the roof and killed by Kiko. Bond escapes to the first floor and is rescued by Australian intelligence agent Alura McCall. M sends Bond and Alura to Drake's private island, where Drake has set up a jamming signal. The two infiltrate the island and take out Drake's defenses. M alerts Bond that UN, EU and NATO forces are arriving on the island to eliminate the remaining enemy fighters. Bond makes his way to Drake's underground silo and fights Kiko before boarding one of the three space shuttles to capture the Space Defense Platform. Kiko burns up in the blast pit as Bond's space shuttle takes off. Bond reaches the U.S. Space Defense Platform, where Drake is located. He manages to knock all eight missiles off course, saving millions of lives. He also causes Drake's laser weapon to malfunction, resulting in a massive explosion. Eventually, Bond kills Drake. As the station goes up in flames, Bond jumps out of an escape pod and returns to Earth, where M informs him that astronomers from around the world are reporting "unexpected meteor showers" (which are actually the debris from the destroyed space defense platform).
