Insane 2 offers a number of innovations in the genre of off-road racing. Besides the traditional time trial mode, the game offers 9 other game modes, including the popular "capture the flag", "gate hunt" and "pathfinder", as well as some new competitions such as bonus hunt, territory control and helicopter chase. All of these modes are also available in multiplayer mode, where up to eight players can participate simultaneously. More than one hundred and fifty races, grouped into championships and cup competitions, take place in Europe, America, Africa and Antarctica. The game offers an enormous variety of long-distance routes: sandy and snowy deserts, high-speed roads and rough cross-country paths, African beaches and deserted Antarctic stations. The game offers 18 vehicles of different classes, from buggies to monstrous "bigfoots", as well as an additional prototype class. Scoring points gained in races can be used to upgrade one of the vehicles from a choice of 15 chassis, body or engine upgrade alternatives. Each vehicle is equipped with a detailed destruction system. Reaching the end of a course without suffering losses is an enormous challenge that only a few can accomplish. The enemies that always provide extreme situations are not the only danger: players must also beware of railroad crossings, heavy tankers and even lightning in stormy weather.
